ਪਰਿਭਾਸ਼ਾ  (Definition)

Who has the knowledge from religious scriptures (ਧ੍ਰਰਮਿਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਤਾ) and also works as priest (ਬਤੌਰ ਪੁਜਾਰੀ ਵੀ ਕਾਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)

Focus is on preaching others (ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇਣ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ) or showing off the knowledge (ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਵਿਖਾਵਾ) as opposed to (ਬਜਾਏ ਇਸਦੇ ਕਿ) using the knowledge to improve own shortcomings (ਗਿਆਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੰਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਰਤੇ)

ਲੋੜੀਂਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਲਈ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ  (Knowledge Required and Services to Society)

Knowledge of religious scriptures (ਧ੍ਰਰਮਿਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ)

To help community (ਸਮਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਦੇਣੀ ) understand the guidance of religion (ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਸੇਧ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ) on key social events (ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਕਾਰਜ) of life. For e.g. marriage, new born baby (ਵਿਆਹ, ਬਚੇ ਦਾ ਜੰਮਣਾ), death (ਮੌਤ ). Instead of giving right knowledge (ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ) to community in these events (ਉਹ ਸਮਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ਤੇ), ends up doing rituals to earn money (ਆਪਣੇ ਫਾਇਦੇ ਲਈ ਕੇਵਲ ਰੀਤੀ ਰਿਵਾਜ).

ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਬੇਦ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਸੁਆਇ ॥ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥ (ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਗ - ਸਲੋਕ ਮ:੩ – ੮੫)

Pandit reads the religious scriptures and shows off this knowledge to further fuel his attachment to worldly possessions. Attached to MAYA, pandit forgets the virtues of Parmesar and in the end such a foolish mind does get punished (doesn’t achieve it’s own purpose of life).

ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਸ਼ੈਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਧਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਗ੍ਰੰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ

We should read religious scriptures to improve our lifestyle as opposed to just preaching others
